Topical Treatment for Premature Ejaculation ( PE )

Updated May 22, 2007 at 7:23 EST.

According to a press release from UroToday, a topical treatment first reported in the February 2007 edition of BJU International is gaining more acceptance. TEMPE – topical eutectic mixture for premature ejaculation  ( PE ) – is a combination of both lidocaine and prilocaine and is deemed as a safe treatment for the most popular sexual dysfunction. The original project reviewed findings from 62 men between the ages of 18-75 years old with a mean intravaginal ejaculatory latency time ( IELT ) of 1 minute prior to treatment.

At the conclusion of the test period, the mean IELT had increased to 3.8 minutes while the IELT reported in the placebo group did not change. TEMPE works by reducing penile sensitivity; it is also less messy and easier for men to administer than previous solutions of ointments or creams ( like ss cream ).
