There are no drugs approved by the Food and Drug administration in America for the treatment of premature ejaculation ( PE ). Doctors are prescribing all kinds of off-label medications to their PE patients as a method of treatment.
Patients need to be aware when taking such medications that if they are prescribed the generic version of a treatment that is it also safe for intake.
Marcel D. Waldinger writes about this in the November 2007 publication of the Urologic Clinics of North America.
Paroxetine hydrochloride is being prescribed off label to treat PE.
The generic version of the drug paroxetine mesylate is not recommended for PE treatment. Unlike its brother compond
generic p
aroxetine hydrochloride hemihydrate which is not being warned as unsafe to perscribe.
This is because no studies have been performed on paroxetine mesylate for the treatment of PE.
Some studies have shown that the side effects of paroxetine mesylate are different than the ones from the name brand version Paroxetine hydrochloride.
